Rampant speculation still surrounds local politician Carl Meerveld’s inexplicable hat, but one thing remains clear: it’s not fooling anyone.
Public figures have often used novelties to placate, mystify and deceive the constituency and Mr Meerveld’s headpiece is no exception.
“He could be hiding anything under that supposedly jaunty hat,” a St Martin’s resident said.
“I think it makes him look strong and sexy,” an anonymous Castelite claimed.
The public remains confused but wary.
